Watch for Wife
« on: October 31, 2013, 01:12:14 PM »
Guys,

With Christmas coming up I am thinking of getting my wife a nice watch. Since I have little knowledge about ladies watches (all my knowledge is on men's timepieces ;D), can you guys give me some suggestions? Criteria is as follows:

Budget: RM10,000 - 15,000
Dial: White
Case: Round, SS or WG (if possible)
Movement: Automatic

Secondhand is fine.

Currently I am looking at boy sized Rolexes.

Thank you in advance.

If this is her first luxury piece...GO FOR ROLEXXXX!!!

RM15k will likely get you a pre-owned but newer models of the mid-size Rolex with plain dials ie. no diamonds, fluted WG bezel and steel jubilee bracelet. If white dial, either the Romans dial (no lume) or stick markers (usually got lume).

I bought my wife a Rolex Air King 34mm white dial, oyster perpetual with oyster bracelet at RM16K. Model number 114200. I know that this may be 1K over your budget, and it was a little over mine too. But the size, fit and classic looks of a Rolex is unbeatable. She is plenty happy with it and I hope that this helps narrow down your search a little. BTW, I bought it brand new and not used.

sorry threadstarter, tumpang for a while

anyone knows how much a new one costs? 29mm or 35mm?
http://www.rolex.com/watches/yacht-master/m168622-0004.html
FYI, my wife has a Tag AR 27mm, looks quite ok on the wrist, will 35mm be too... big?

not very familiar with Rolex movements, what's the difference between 2235 (yachtmaster/datejust) and 3130 (airking)?
their website didn't mention anything on the power reserve ???

i think women don't really care much about the movement & complication in the watch like men do , as long as it is a good brand with bling bling will do the job right.

A pre owned ladies DJ with big diamonds would be around your budget.

Go for a dark coloured dial which would really make the diamonds "pop" and ease to read time. Looks great both formal and smart casual.
